The Kill Devil Diesel 6.4 Builder Series

Engineered by engine builders, for engine builders, the Builder Series is designed for those who take pride in building their own engine but don’t want the uncertainty that comes with starting from scratch. We provide every critical component you need — all precision CNC-machined to the same uncompromising standards as our award-winning KDD engines — so you can assemble a powerhouse with confidence. Whether you’re chasing performance, reliability, or both, you’ll have our expert engineering behind you every step of the way.

Each Builder Series Engine package comes with a fully machined and prepped block ready to assemble, a balanced rotating assembly (crankshaft, pistons, pins, rings, bearings), KDD camshaft and lifter kit, with chromoly pushrods, American made P1 or ARP head studs, complete gasket set, and our commitment to help support you throughout the assembly process. 

S1 – Torque Series 

For the owner who wants maximum reliability and torque for towing, daily driving, and longevity — without unnecessary complexity.

Features:

• KDD HD Cast Iron O-Ringed Cylinder Heads: Equipped with 100lb heavy-duty valve springs and stainless nitrided valves for unmatched durability.

• P1 or ARP Head Studs: Locks down your heads under serious pressure.

• Precision CNC Blueprint Machining: Fully machined and prepped block featuring CNC bore, deck, torque plate hone, and align honing for ultimate durability and superior ring seal - all blocks are magnafluxed and pressure tested to ensure no cracks or leaks, cam bearings and freeze plugs installed, ready to assemble. 

• Fully balanced rotating assembly, for years of smooth operation and long bearing life

• New HD Upgraded Maxxforce Pistons to prevent cracking, plus rings, bearings, and gaskets from a Tier 1 factory supplier, factory Ford connecting rods.

• USA-made valvetrain – S1 Torque Series Camshaft: Engineered to maximize stump-pulling low-end torque and lower EGTs, plus KDD’s USA-made Gen2 HD lifters with increased oiling, and chromoly pushrods.

Performance Specs:

• Conservatively rated for 500 HP — ideal for daily driving, frequent towing, and mild upgrades (recommended for stock injector/turbo setups).

S2+ – Sportsman Series Plus (Builder Kit)

Step up to the steel piston era. Built for serious power while keeping street manners intact, this package eliminates the 6.4’s notorious cracked factory pistons for good with KDD’s proprietary steel piston technology.

Features:

• KDD Aluminum ICON Series O-Ringed Cylinder Heads with 100lb HD valve springs, ideal for higher boost and backpressure from upgraded turbos and injectors.

• P1 or ARP Head Studs: Locks down your heads under serious pressure.
  

• KDD Proprietary Steel Piston Package: Factory Ford 2020 6.7L steel pistons paired with USA-made custom Carrillo forged steel rods.

• Total Seal Gapless Rings for maximum cylinder sealing under extreme conditions, virtually no blow by and less soot in the oil for longer engine life

• USA-made valvetrain – S2 Sportsman Series Camshaft for 1000–4000 RPM powerband, quicker spool, and lower EGTs. Includes KDD’s Gen2 HD lifters and chromoly pushrods, plus updated Ford rockers with increased oiling.

• Precision CNC Blueprint Machining: Fully machined and prepped block featuring CNC bore, deck, torque plate hone, and align honing for ultimate durability and superior ring seal - all blocks are magnafluxed and pressure tested to ensure no cracks or leaks, cam bearings and freeze plugs installed, ready to assemble. 
• Fully balanced rotating assembly, for years of smooth operation and long bearing life

Performance Specs:

• Rated at 1000+ HP — perfect for heavy towing, spirited street driving, and mild track use with supporting mods (stock to 60% over injectors, ideal for KC S2 VGT or moderate single turbos).

S3+ – Outlaw Series (Builder Kit)

Built for competition and the ultimate in 6.4L reliability and power — this is the steel-piston monster for racers and record-chasers.

Features:

• KDD CNC-Ported Aluminum ICON Series O-Ringed Cylinder Heads with 100lb HD valve springs and Nitro-Black stainless steel valves.

• P1 or ARP 2000 Series Head Studs + Main Studs: Extreme clamping strength for extreme boost and high-horsepower builds.

• KDD Proprietary Steel Piston Package: Factory Ford 2020 6.7L steel pistons + USA-made Carrillo forged steel rods.

• Total Seal Gapless Rings for maximum cylinder sealing under extreme conditions, virtually no blow by and less soot in the oil for longer engine life.

• S2 Billet Camshaft: Built for maximum power output while retaining drivability.   (Upgrade to S3 camshaft optional, will require additional valve recession to the cylinder heads)

• KDD Exclusive Jesel Valvetrain System – Forged steel shaft-mounted adjustable roller rockers + DLC-coated solid roller lifters - ready for 6000+ RPM track passes!
• Precision CNC Blueprint Machining: Fully machined and prepped block featuring CNC bore, deck, torque plate hone, and align honing for ultimate durability and superior ring seal - all blocks are magnafluxed and pressure tested to ensure no cracks or leaks, cam bearings and freeze plugs installed, ready to assemble. 
• Fully balanced rotating assembly, for years of smooth operation and long bearing life

Performance Specs:

• Rated for 1500+ HP — ready for nitrous, compounds, and repeat track passes.

• Not recommended for towing; best with large singles, compounds, or full competition setups.
